What is Affix-It?

Affix-It supplies a prefix or suffix and gives you one minute to build real English words around it. Longer words and uncommon letters are worth more, so quick short entries compete with slower, higher-scoring finds.

How to play

  1. Read the daily prefix or suffix, then press Start the 60 seconds.
  2. Type the missing part of a word, or the complete word.
  3. Press Enter or Write it down to submit words until the timer runs out.

Do you type the whole word?

You can enter just the missing part or the whole word. For a prefix, add letters after it; for a suffix, add them before it. Press Enter or the visible Write it down button to submit.

Which words count?

A word needs at least two letters beyond the supplied prefix or suffix. Names, abbreviations, spaces, hyphens and apostrophes do not count, and each word can score only once. It need only match the letters, not the word part’s meaning.

What earns bonus points?

Longer words score more, and J, Q, X and Z add bonuses. Words with at least seven letters beyond the supplied part, or at least four with one of those rare letters, earn a gold star and a 50% bonus. Practice rounds do not count toward the daily result.
