What is MaxWord?
MaxWord feeds letters onto twelve tiles while you build words by touch or keyboard. You can reuse a letter within a word; an accepted word removes its used letters and adds points. In Compete, everyone receives the same daily letter stream, and the countdown begins when the twelfth letter arrives. The daily rules vary the letter mix and time limit.
How to play
- Choose Play today's game, leave the optional name and city blank or set them, then choose Play.
- Read the daily rules and select Start to begin the letter stream.
- Tap letter tiles or use your keyboard to form a word; Del removes a character and Clear empties the entry.
- Select Submit to score a valid word and clear its used tiles, then keep building words before time runs out.
Can you use a letter more than once?
Yes. The official help allows the same available letter to appear multiple times in a word. A valid submission clears the tiles for the letters used, so the next word must use the board that remains.
How much are longer words worth?
Two- and three-letter words score their length. Four or five letters double it; six or seven multiply it by four; eight or nine by eight; and ten to twelve by sixteen. The multiplier applies to the whole word length.
Does refreshing save an unfinished game?
Not in the tested browser sessions. Refreshing during Compete returned to the Start rules with score zero rather than restoring the three-point unfinished run. Finish a run without refreshing if you want to keep that in-progress score.
