What is WikiWhiz?
WikiWhiz hides one English Wikipedia article behind a daily sequence of clues. Categories provide an early lead; later clues can include section titles, infobox facts or an article photo. You submit the article title, rather than individual words from its text. Each accepted guess brings feedback on the title's lexical similarity and the links separating the two Wikipedia articles. You have seven attempts to turn those clues into an identification.
How to play
- Read the first clue and check the displayed title length and word count before entering a candidate.
- Type an English Wikipedia article title into the tiles, including spaces where appropriate, then select Guess. The game checks that the title exists.
- After an accepted wrong guess, compare the feedback and read the newly revealed clue before choosing another title. You have seven attempts in total.
- Use Clear to replace the current entry. Pass reveals another clue but counts as a missed attempt, so use it only when the extra information is worth that cost.
What if a plausible title is rejected?
A guess must be a real English Wikipedia article title, not just a related phrase. The game can reject an unrecognized title without advancing the attempt counter. Check the wording rather than assuming every sensible description will count as an article. An accepted wrong title, by contrast, appears in the guess history and reveals another clue.
What do the two kinds of closeness measure?
One compares your title lexically with the answer; the other measures separation through Wikipedia links. Similar wording and a nearby topic are not the same thing. Read those indicators alongside the actual clues instead of treating a related subject as proof that you have found the title.
Does passing cost an attempt?
Yes. Pass reveals the next clue but is counted as a miss, just like a wrong guess. Clear only replaces what you are currently typing. With seven attempts available, try to extract something useful from the current clue before spending an attempt on more information.
