Make one numerical estimate for a daily question, using units and scale rather than a list of answer choices.

Estimation asks you to judge a quantity without necessarily knowing its exact value. You might work with a numerical answer or compare objects visually. The central question is how large, small or numerous something could reasonably be, rather than which remembered fact or solved equation supplies the answer.
Start with a reference you can picture: a familiar length, an everyday object or a quantity you already know. Use it to set a rough range before choosing a more specific answer. In a visual comparison, check the measurement being requested; judging height when the task asks for length can undo an otherwise sensible estimate.
Read the unit and scale before submitting a number. First decide whether your answer belongs in the tens, thousands or millions; extra digits will not rescue the wrong order of magnitude. If you convert between units, keep that conversion separate from your estimate so you can spot where an error entered.
Not quite. Arithmetic can help, but estimating also depends on comparison and imperfect knowledge. Size It Up uses resizable silhouettes, while Magnitudle's Daily Question asks for a numerical quantity. Choose the kind of judgment you enjoy, and check the submission rules before treating a first estimate as a trial run.
