What is Bookends?

Bookends supplies two boundary letters and asks how differently you can use them. Its main event scores a longest word by length and a shortest word by brevity. A bonus round adds three changing categories, with only your best bonus answer counting. All answers must begin and end with the supplied letters; the displayed example word is not an answer you can submit.

How to play

  1. Read the daily first and last letters.
  2. Enter a long word with those endpoints and select Check.
  3. Try a short word under the same letter constraints.
  4. Attempt the bonus categories; only your best bonus result counts.
  5. Keep improving an accepted answer or use Lock in when you are ready.

Can you submit the example word?

No. The word displayed between the two letters illustrates the endpoints, but the game rejects it as your answer. Find a different word beginning and ending with those letters.

Do all three bonus categories add to your score?

Only your best bonus answer counts. You can try all three categories without needing to solve every one.
