What is Apartle?

Apartle asks you to find a five-letter word. Each submitted position gives its own alphabet clue: an upward arrow points to an earlier letter, a downward arrow to a later one, and green marks the correct letter.

How to play

  1. Enter a five-letter word using the keyboard or on-screen letter buttons.
  2. Submit the word, then read the alphabet arrow at each position separately.
  3. Keep correct letters and use the remaining alphabet range to narrow your next word.

What do the arrows mean?

Read each arrow against the letter in that same position. Up means the answer’s letter comes earlier in the alphabet; down means later. Green is an exact match.

Can you play with the on-screen keyboard?

Yes. Tap the letters and the return key to submit. Both a phone touch session and desktop clicking produced the directional feedback, including inside a cross-origin embedded frame.

Does refreshing lose your guesses?

The submitted word and its feedback returned after refreshing in the tested desktop and phone browsers. This is same-browser progress; it does not establish account or cross-device syncing.
