What is Language Tree?
Language Tree hides one language and gives you 20 guesses to find it. Enter a modern or ancient language, then inspect the branches revealed by your guess. Languages that share ancestors help narrow the search toward the hidden answer. The game tests knowledge of language families rather than translations or word spelling, and the daily browser puzzle is free without an account.
How to play
- Type a language name and choose the matching entry from the suggestions.
- Press Guess to submit it and reveal its position on the tree.
- Use the shared branches to choose your next language, rather than judging names by how similar they sound.
- Find the hidden language within 20 guesses.
Are you guessing a word or a language?
Guess a language, not a translation of the displayed text. The official instructions allow modern and ancient languages, and the selector helps you choose a recognized entry.
What does a wrong language reveal?
The tree places your guess under its ancestor family. Shared ancestors are the clue: compare the revealed branches before moving to a different part of the tree.
Does an unfinished language puzzle survive refresh?
In both desktop and mobile tests, refreshing retained the accepted guess and the remaining-guess count. This is browser progress, not an account-based cross-device sync promise.
