What is Rebusly?
Rebusly turns a phrase into a visual clue: where words sit, how large they are, how many appear and how they sound can all matter. Type the phrase into the answer boxes and submit it. The free daily puzzle supplies word lengths and three ordered hints, then connects the solution to a selection of news coverage. You can play without an account.
How to play
- Inspect the words, symbols and their arrangement; use the displayed word lengths to shape a phrase.
- Enter letters with your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then press Submit.
- Use News, Decode and Letters hints in that order if needed; each hint or wrong answer spends one of three tries.
- Solve before the tries run out, or use Reveal to end the puzzle and see the answer.
Which parts of the picture are clues?
Read the arrangement as well as the words. Rebusly explicitly points to position, size, quantity and sound; the answer boxes give the number of letters in each word.
How do the three hints differ?
News gives story context, Decode explains how to read the visual, and Letters supplies the first letter of each word. Hints and wrong guesses share the three-try allowance. Reveal ends the puzzle rather than giving another attempt.
Do you need to read the news first?
The visual and word lengths are available before opening coverage. A News hint can supply context if the phrase is unfamiliar; solving leads into the selected articles.
